One day is a car day with two stops. It is a fair plan for a tight flight window, and a poor plan for a first pilgrimage.
Leave Bhubaneswar early. Konark first, while the stone is still kind, then Puri for a darshan window and a short beach stop, then back. The road between Puri and Konark is the easy part. The temple queue is the part that decides whether you eat.
A Bhubaneswar to Puri one-day trip by car works for guests who already know the temple or who have only a layover. First-time families, senior citizens and anyone who wants Mahaprasad should sleep in Puri. The one-day version drops the meal or the beach, sometimes both.
Chilika does not fit this day. If the lagoon matters, use the Puri–Konark–Chilika package and a second night.
